BUG: Selecting text
There's a bug that seems to occur only in very specific circumstances (as best I can tell). In short, the bug is that when you click and drag the mouse to select a portion of text in a note file the text will be deselected as the user continues to select text.
I've only encountered this bug in the following conditions. I'll explain those conditions and then I'll explain why it bothers me enough to create this post... since it may seem pedantic:
1. A portion of text is copied from a resource and pasted into a note. It doesn't matter if note was pre-existing and it seems to only occur for text that has been pasted (I've never experienced it occurring with text that I've typed and I just ran a quick test typing out a paragraph).
2. The user begins their selection of text starting from the bottom and dragging up. I've never experienced this when starting from the top of the text and dragging the mouse down.
3. Usually this occurs only after a certain amount of text has been selected (most often roughly the amount of a paragraph), but sometimes it can be after a single sentence.
4. If the note is long enough to have the ability to scroll up or down, the bug can appear or disappear after scrolling the window up or down.
Here is a gif* I made that shows the buggy behavior (might need to click the image for the gif to animate): https://imgur.com/a/dhGr5Zb
Why does this even matter?
As I do my daily Bible reading I usually copy and paste texts from commentaries or other resources into notes attached to the text - as I'm sure every Logos user does. Thus, every day I deal with this bug multiple times as I try to format the pasted text from looking like this jumbled mess:
to something more readable like this:
Obviously part of the reader-friendly-formatting process involves selecting the body and footnote text in order to indent it and mark it off from the reference information.
Ok. But, why not just select my text starting from the top and moving the mouse downward, like Dante's descent into Hell? The question answers itself.
Alternatively, if the good people at Logos prefer not to fix this bug or it proves too tricky, they could simply expand the 'Copy Bible Verses' tool to work with *all* resources, such that I don't have to worry about manually formatting every time I paste text into a note. This would be the more equitable solution anyway.
