References open preferred Bible Bible in a new window... sometimes

This is not a huge deal, but I'd like to know why this happens. Occasionally -- and I don't know what needs to be in place for it to happen -- when I click a Scripture reference (in this case, the RCL), the passage opens up to my preferred Bible, but in a new window. This is in spite of the fact that my preferred Bible is already open with link sets in place, etc. I've noticed it a few times, but whenever I try to make it happen again, clicking the reference works as I would suspect by going to the preferred Bible window that is already open.

Here is my hypothesis: 

When I click on a scripture hyperlink carefully, it ALWAYS opens in the already opened bible. If, on the other hand, I am less careful and click / hold / drag, it opens in a new tab or pane. I can reproduce this at will. I would guess that this is what you are doing as well.
