When using tags to select Bibles, how can e change the order in the Text Comparison tool? I tried changing the titles by prepending them with the publication dates. Apparently that didn't work.
You select bibles from the drop down and then order them by dragging:-
Drag the bibles under Resources to change their order.
If you specify a Collection of bibles, then they will appear in alphabetical order of their title. The only exception is the base bible, which can be one from the collection e.g.
I don't know about L8, but in L7, you have to re-start Logos for Text Comparison to use edited titles.
Just this week, I took KSFJ's idea of assigning 1611 to the Cambridge Bible .... nothing happened (Text Comparison). Then I remembered.
In L8, I re-do the comparison with newly edited titles after running a different one.
Thanks, Dave. I had used tags rather than a collection and received the dreaded 'There are no results for this reference...' message when selecting my tagged resources and thought that perhaps the first one checked did not have the supplied reference. So I had hoped that determining how the system orders tagged resources for comparison would help me make sure that the base Bible was the one that had the reference.
However, you mentioned that the Bible should appear in alphabetical order of their title. That does not appear to be the case. I tried prepending the publication dates to the Bible titles, hoping that they would appear in something close to chronological order. They did not.
Should I give up on the tag route for this particular project and run toward collections instead? Any suggestions?
You can't rely on any ordering with the collection.
Just add the one you want first in addition to (and in front of) the collection. It doesn't matter if it's in the list twice. It'll only show up once, and will be in the first position.
Don't be confused by the Abbreviated Title which is used in TC. They appear in order of their full Title (edited or standard).
