Do I have to purchase Logos 8 to have this feature?

Yes - https://www.logos.com/compare/featuresets shows which features are available in which feature upgrade with Sermon Editor being included in the Full Feature one. I think this requires a Logos 8 Silver Base Package or above (or a subscription to Faithlife Connect Essentials or above)
