Pet Peeve of the Day

The nice thing about pet peeves is they don't have to be important, people don't have to agree with you, and one can change your mind on a dime. So today's pet peeve is "garbage" in shared document. Why does it drive me nuts?

To find some brilliant uses for Logos, it is useful every so often to review the shared documents but it is made more difficult by:

  • documents with meaningless names such as ";", "Yikes!" "Untitled Passage List" (7 of them)... if a document is not worth giving a title with meaning, it is not worth making it Public.
  • documents with anachronistic names do provide me with a humorous break so I have a very low bar for acceptable titles
  • documents that are simply the results of Logos process "Topic Guide | Sabbath > Related Verses" really don't need to be made Public ... if you want to share for collaboration, share them with a Group
  • when you are testing how sharing works please clean out your test files when you are done. {yes, this one is based on my having forgotten to do so ..}

In short, give some thought to the user on the other side before making your files public - make sure they work, that they are helpful to someone, and that one can tell if it might be interesting from the title.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
