Logos Mobile App and iPad & iPad Pro

Hello all. Though I have been using Logos for years, this is my first post, so forgive me for any ignorance I show here as a newcomer to the forum. I have seriously considered getting an iPad Pro, primarily as a Windows laptop replacement, until I read that it wasn’t possible to run Logos in iOS like the desktop MacOS and Windows, only in mobile format. So, I’ve attempted to read/search the forums (searching at the top of this forum page hasn’t working for me for some reason) to see what choices others have made but haven’t found much. So, my question is for those who run the Logos mobile app on an iPad or iPad Pro. Is it worth the price of the Pro for running the mobile app? It will also be used for preaching, primarily for notes but also for teaching, using PowerPoint, video, etc. I will definitely be using whatever I buy to replace my Samsung Galaxy Tab S that is 5 or 6 years old. And just FYI, I use Logos primarily on a Windows laptop but also on a really slow iMac in my study at church. Don’t hesitate to ask for any other information/clarification. I hope this wasn’t too convoluted and appreciate your help and suggestions.

although there is a strong group of users who would like to replace a computer with an iPad (speaking of logos), the mobile app is not a replacement for the desktop app. For logos purposes, there isn’t a reason to get an iPad Pro over a regular iPad.

I have an ipad pro & agree with JT. There's no benefit from the mobile format standpoint to get the pro over the standard ipad however, I'm sure the higher res screen would certainly help with the teaching/preaching from a visual perspective

Depending on your Logos workflow on the desktop, the web app might be something that could work for you on an iPad. Check it out and see if it might do what you need.

At this time, in my opinion, there is little benefit for the Pro over the standard iPad other than the larger screen and smaller bezels for Logos use.

In the future, I hope that Logos will allow us to run a more complete version on iPad, but at this time the iPad is not a replacement for a computer for Logos use. Hopefully this isn't the case forever.

Thank you to each of you who responded to my post. I apologize it has been so long since I have followed up with you. After reading your suggestions, I agree that the only benefit to getting the iPad Pro is the larger screen and better resolution. I did have a chance to look at the Logos app on an older iPad Pro 10.5, and it certainly workable but not with all of the desktop app's capability. So with that, I had completely intended to get an iPad Air, going middle of the road, to meet my needs. However, some kind folks at church have made it possible to get the Pro, understanding that the larger screen real estate and better screen resolution will make teaching while using the device much better. Thanks again to all of you who contributed; no doubt it will be valuable information for others later on.

Hello, new iPad Pro 2020 now has mouse support and trackpad support and really there is no technical difference between it and a regular Mac desktop functionality wise with the smart keyboard of course. My question is: when is Logos going to allow us To operate the full software on this platform? Even operating do you app.logos.com Does not fully give me all the features that my desktop version does so I have to maintain multiple platforms in order to get the full benefit of this incredible software.

Years (and years?) away. It will certainly not be before FL has either written the code so that the desktop app runs natively on ARM based Macs (i.e. without the use of "rosetta") OR Apple makes use of "rosetta" on iPad (which I don't think will ever happen).

I don't think that any iPad device you are using TODAY will run it if/when it comes.

As far as I know the Logos app doesn't even support dragging and dropping text on an ipad, which other apps have supported for years?

If I could ctrl + c and ctrl + v on ipad, I would be very happy already I hope I could highlight text on footnotes.

In ios14 you can handwrite in the mobile app now with the Apple Pencil.
if your desktop is Windows you can RDP into windows and run logos on the iPad that way. Retina resolution and keyboard mouse support.

Hi John,

I recently faced a similar dilemma which you are describing. One thing that I like to do is screen share between my Mac and my iPad. If you have a Mac computer, you can share your screen via bluetooth or you can connect your iPad to your Mac via cable and share the screen that way. This allows me to open the Logos desktop app on my MacBook, and then drag it over to my iPad as a "second screen" or window. Now I am able to use the Logos desktop version instead of the "mobile app" version.

The current iPad Pro has an M2 chip in it. It now runs Final Cut Pro. What prevents it from running the non-mobile version of Logos? Are there huge hurdles before this can see the light of day still? Are the limitations significantly tied to Apple's or FL's side or shared? Any hints?
