Advanced homiletic training issues

I'm trying to follow the advanced homiletic training, and it seems that Verbum in that video is a different version that 8.15.

First, they tell you to go to the home screen and click the Gear icon and make sure that the "Catholic Daily Reading" box is checked.  When I go to the gear on the home screen, It looks completely different and just lists "Columns, Banner and Refresh".  Supposedly, this will display the daily readings in the sidebar.  I don't see a sidebar, just a bunch of square tiles on my screen.

When they do get the daily readings to open (I can find this some other way, but it is a huge pain), the different panes will jump to that text.  Mine sometimes a) does nothing, and b) the pane that I am in will change to the bible text.  Theirs will update the all the right panes but not the left one.  Why is mine behaving like this?

Also, in the video, it says you can type "Monday" or "Sunday" in the go box and it will list something that says "Open Lectionary to Sunday"... mine does not show this.  Below is what I see.

You are correct that the Homepage layout has changed. Now the lectionary will appear as a card on the dashboard rather than as a entry in a left-side ribbon. You want to use the "gear box" associated with the dashboard - it is no a plus sign in a circle. That should get you going.

Thank you.  Do they plan on updating the training videos to match?

What is shown in the drop-down select list is a complex mix of what you have used before, the highest probable hits, and some default controlling the variety of options. Both prioritizing you first choice of a lectionary and addings it's home card via the plus-circle icon may help in getting the lectionary option to show.

That doesn't make any sense as the training videos shows a lot of things in that drop down too.  How do I fix it as it almost looks like they took that feature away?  I'm sorry I upgraded to Gold if these are the issues it has.

The differences between what one user sees and what another person sees depends upon many things:

    • what each user owns
    • what each user has prioritized
    • the history of each user as to what resources they have used most often and most recently

In this case, your expectation of a close match to what is shown on the training video is misinformed. I'll have time to play with it a bit later to see what I need as recent history to get what you see in the video.

It's not misinformed... the Catholic Daily Readings is included in my package.  What they are showing in the video is I can type "Monday" and it should go to the next Monday in the Catholic daily readings and open that up.  It seems more like Verbum removed features or it is not working.  I'm not looking for recent history, but for it to go to something that I have not gone into (the next Monday in the readings).

It appears that the video show the date being entered into the GO box which supported the entering of the liturgical date. The GO box was combined with the Command box. It appears that the support for the liturgical date did not get transferred  over. The appropriate response is to request that it be reinstated in the Suggestions forum.

    Thanks...

Is there a sub forum for reporting bugs in the software as well?  I've noticed some issues in the mac version which I do not see in the PC version, but I am still validating this.

Please report bugs in Logos 8 in a new thread in this forum - ideally with a BUG: indicator at the beginning of the thread title.
