Literature Features on a Budget
Greetings everyone,
I have Logos 8 Fundamentals.
The books that I use most are the Britannica Great Books, Britannica Encyclopedia, Compton Encyclopedia, Merriam Webster Dictionary and Thesaurus, the 8 volume IVP Dictionary set, and the Leland Ryken Bible as Literature books.
I am a secular community college student, and sometimes I am offered the student discount and other times I am not.
I am struggling most with the lack of genre and literary type features that are only available in packages that I cannot afford. I would like to own many of the resources available in those packages, but don't NEED them. And Logos 9 is due out soon. I cannot justify getting myself deeply in debt just to get a few literary features. I just chatted with logos and their suggestion was the silver package at the regular 25% off price. That is almost $700. I thanked them and told them to stay safe and clicked off the chat.
Is there any way to just get some more targeted support for the Great Books and Leland Ryken books. For Bible study I have what I need in Logos and my other Bible software and Kindle Books. I am mostly KJV only and the older reference books are usually perfect for the KJV; I don't need much for Bible study that is not in the public domain. And I have a 2008 version of Encarta Encyclopedia and Microsoft Office 2016 installed on my computer.
I am truly blessed to have such a beautiful offline library. This is important as I do not always have access to wifi.
Maybe I should just save up and wait for logos 9 and do the best I can with what I have. Any advice?

Hi Kathleen Marie, welcome to the forums!

You don’t necessarily have to buy a package (library plus features) to get access to features you want.
You can buy a feature upgrade that contains the features you need: https://www.logos.com/compare/featuresets
You can also rent features through a Faithlife Connect subscription: https://connect.faithlife.com/pricing
Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

Thank you!
I was hoping at the chat, that I would be offered a deal on a feature set and guidance of which one I needed, but instead was told I needed a full silver package. Or better yet, I had hoped that I would be told about something that I knew nothing about.
The subscription is something that I know nothing about. THANKS! I will look into this more. At the very least, maybe this will be the best thing to do short-term until more information about Logos 9 is released.
