"comp" meaning

Hi, I've noticed that in the verse cross references sometimes "comp" is used. I've seen "comp" in citations to mean "compiler" but this usage seems different. Example: https://biblia.com/books/kjv1900/1Co3.2 footnote f for "for." Can anyone help clarify this?

"Compare," equivalent to the abbreviation c.f. (which is from the Latin "confer"= compare)
"The whole modern world has divided itself into Conservatives and Progressives. The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of Conservatives is to prevent mistakes from being corrected."- G.K. Chesterton
