Daily devotional not populating to current date
In a layout labelled "Horton - Theology" one of my tabs/books/resources is 365 Days with Spurgeon (Volume 1).
The last time I opened this Layout was August 9th.
I re-opened it today and the resource 365 did not open/populate or move ahead to today's date of August 12th.
If I open 365 by itself it does populate to the current date.
I'm not sure if it's possible to have it open to the current date, but I'd like to know if it is.
mm.

Add it to Dashboard, from where it will open to the correct date.in your layout.

Possibly relevant:
- Most saved layouts will open to the location of the last save.
- If I start with a layout that already is linked with a date, I have better luck with getting the date link to work in my layout.
- I've never played with it enough to find the actual rules.

Can u explain number 2?
Do u mean if I have 365 and only 365 opened and THEN save that layout and then add to it other resources that "might" work.
I tried that, but to no avail. unless I'm not doing number 2 like you think...

I mean go to the layouts menu, select Devotional, change the layout as you want so it works with 365, save under a name of your choice, open that new layout from the homepage.
Or open the gear to modify the dash board, select devotional, select 365, add that ... then see what modifications you need to make. I assumed you had done this and found it unacceptable.

yeah it doesn't work. No worries. I'll simply scroll to the current date. Thanks.

I have 365 on my short cut bar but notice that the date is August 8th and not today's date (12th).
I didn't say that ---> "Add it to Dashboard, from where it will open to the correct date.in your layout." i.e. open it from the Card in Dashboard

For the first year of my use of logos, I never used the dashboard. Now I use it everyday. Incredibly helpful!

Hey Dave. So I 'did' do what you suggested and when I opened my saved Horton layout from the layouts tab at the top right of my window it DID NOT populate to today's date.
HOWEVER, when I already had my layout opened with the wrong 365 date and then went to the Dashboard and selected the 365 card it did go back to my saved Layout and then it populated to the correct date - todays.
But do I have to do two steps: 1) have my layout already opened 2) use the Dashboard card to open 365 which will open it to the correct date in my layout?
Hope this makes sense...

I don't ever use the dashboard, nor do I utilize this feature. However: "Layouts" are meant to leave everything exactly where they are. They don't "refresh." So if a resource is a calendar devotional and opens up from the library to todays date, in the layout it will NOT do so.
From your description, I assume that the dashboard feature is manually updating the resource to todays date. So yes, two steps.

JT? Thanks for the explanation. Makes sense. and it's not really a big deal. I can scroll to a current date when I use the Layout.
Just thought I'd ask.
thanks again.
