Open on LAST Location
Have I missed something or is this a new feature?
Several months ago the Logos PC/Web/Browser app would always open at the same scripture where I left off.
Then I noticed the change. Every time I open the Logos app it opens on Genesis 1:1.
It does not remember where I left off.
Most of the time I use the Mobile App and that always remembers, but the PC/Web/Browser app does not.
I have search settings if there was a new setting added, but did not recognize it, if it is there.
I would like it to remember.
Thank you,
Richard Billingsley

Hi Richard.
A couple questions.
1) Do you use layouts?
2) Do you always open LOGOS to THAT layout or maybe a specific layout?
3) Is your Bible you are trying to use part of that layout? This will work IF you use layouts.
You need to save the current state (current "Look/Resource Locations/etc") BEFORE you exit LOGOS.
A) If you use and open to a specific layout you most likely have this part set already but just in case, you need to tell LOGOS which layout to display when Logos opens. Use the Tools>Program Settings menu option.
Under the (3) General section use the drop-down for (4) "At startup Open to" and choose either a generic layout or your preferred (previously saved) layout from the (5) drop-down list.
C) This part is what you have to do EVERY TIME you close LOGOS for this to work.
You have to save the condition of your current desktop by selecting the (6) Layouts icon at the top right of your screen then select (7) Update active. Now the next time you open up LOGOS all of the reesources you had used the last time will open for you AND most importantly for you, your Bible will be where you left off at.
P.S. This works for the Desktop. I have not tried this for the Web app but I do not believe you can do this there. I am sure that someone will correct me if I am wrong.

My layout (and passage) is saved when I exit Logos 8, and a new bible will open to the active passage. So I can't reproduce your issue, and nothing has changed.
Provide some more details: Logos version, Windows version. Exactly what opens on Gen 1:1?

Explain "new setting added" and "if it is there"

I don't use the Web app too much Richard but it works fine in the Desktop version.

Yes, I open Logo to the HOME page and created a Dashboard card item using a custom layout. Set to ESV and Faithlife Study Bible with Notes as a separate floating panel. I have been using that since the Dashboard feature was released.
Previously it remembered my last location when I exited.
I have an unusual study pattern where I cycle through one or more chapters from a different section of the Bible each time I read saving the last location in Favorites:
1. Torah
2. Histories
3. Songs
4. Prophets
5. Gospels (Matt, Mark, Luke, John, Revelation)
6. EpistlesI resaved the profile and experimented and I think that was it. Logos must have done something that made it forget where I left off. Once resaved it is now remembering the location where I left off again. I changed the location/exited/restarted and it remembers again. I got so used to it always remembering I didn't think it might need a resave.
Thank you,

This problem IS NOT resolved. I logged into my computer this morning and started the reading layout and it started on Genesis 1:1 again.
I went back and saved it a second time to a new save point and restarted the app. Again it REMEMBERED Correctly.
I shut down the computer and restarted and again it remembered.
Why it forgot yesterday's settings is unknown.
Going to wait and see what happens tomorrow. If it forgets again there is a problem.

It is more efficient to have Logos save your layout via Most recent layout - local in Program Settings, rather than open to the Home page and retrieve a manually saved layout.

Ok, it opening it this morning after restarting the computer set it back to Genesis 1:1. So, that is a weakness in the program that was not there in the past.
I changed the startup to the "Most recent layout - local" and will see if it works better tomorrow.
Thank you,
