Change from selection to reference?

Is there a simple way to change a note from based on Selection to based on Reference from within the note?
Eating a steady diet of government cheese, and living in a van down by the river.

Is there a simple way to change a note from based on Selection to based on Reference from within the note?
What I do is click Add anchor then add the reference I want to use and then delete the original anchor
