Just curious. I am getting OR hits when executing AND Basic searches. What am I doing wrong? Don't know if it matters, but I was searching my Journals Collection for texts having the words, "children" AND "Poor." Virtually all my hits came back with one or the other. Also, is there a good video that deals with constructing different kinds of search queries to which you could refer me? Optimally, videos should be five to ten minutes in length. That's not to say that I won't absolutely watch hour-length videos. But I have a strong preference not to. My schedule is packed. Thanks in advance for any help.

Journal articles are quite long. It's quite possible that both words are in the article, but the (short) search preview is only showing one of them. Try using the Previous/Next Search Result navigation in the resource display to jump between search hits.
A screenshot may also be helpful to demonstrate the problem.

Suggest opening article then navigating Search results. For example, found children on page 86 in one article AND poor on page 91
Proximity search idea is thinking about some sample phrases having children AND poor:
- children WITHIN 1 WORD poor => "poor children"
- children WITHIN 3 WORDS poor => "children in a poor area"
- children WITHIN 5 WORDS poor => "children living in an urban poor neighborhood"
Basic Search of Type:Journal for children WITHIN 5 WORDS poor finds a variety of phrases:
