Layout Issue

I set up and saved a layout, and set it to open when the Logos 8 application first loads. I have all my resources linked. If I want to leave the current passage and type in another one to search, the program leaves my layout and reverts back to the default layout set by the program.A friend of mine has Logos 7, and his stays in his layout when he changes to another passage. What can I do to fix this?

Where are you typing in the new passage, in the Bible panel of your layout, or in the Command Bar at the top of the window?

  • Command Bar. I just figured out that there's not a problem if I use the search field in the Bible panel. So I'm assuming that it won't stay in the selected layout if I search in the command bar?

What's likely happening when you're searching and the layout is changing is that Logos 8 is opening a Passage Study Layout for the new passage. You can confirm this by typing in the desired passage and waiting for the drop down menu to populate before doing anything else. The option at the top is the one you end up with if you just type a reference in and click Enter.

OK. I'm pretty sure that the Command Bar uses the default layout in your layouts menu, NOT the current layout you have created. In the layouts menu, click the triangle to the right of Passage Study, and choose "Replace With Current Layout." That should fix things.
