How do I look up a "normal" english word/use a non-bible dictionary?

Logos Newbie here:

While stumbling around my library, perusing items listed as Manual in my library (and wondering what types of books or articles they are), I found Ancient Literature: Dataset Documentation.

Two questions:

1. Are ALL Manual items simply a type of internal documentation (something similar to what used to be the ReadMe file)?

2. The first sentence of the document says, "Several corpora of ancient literature have significant interchange with canonical (biblical) material." Rick Brannan, Ancient Literature Documentation (Bellingham, WA: Faithlife, 2015). How do I find the meaning of corpora? I tried highlighting and right-clicking on the word, then did Look Up, but don't see anything other than Wikipedia. I'm NOT a fan of Wikipedia for this type of definition. How do I get to a normal (non-biblical) dictionary? I also looked at Information and still didn't get anywhere.

Effectively - yes

Do you have any English dictionaries in Logos?

When I right-clicked on that word in that resource it gave me access to three English dictionaries with a definition of the term.

Yes

You went about it the right way. I think this will depend on what resources you have, and,how you have prioritised them.

Under "look up" (right click on "corpora") mine says "no results." (Can't do a screenshot because the popup goes away when I try to use my clipper.)

I guess I could use some help with another way to do a screenshot on a Windows 10 desktop.

Do you have any English dictionaries in Logos?

I don't know. I recently upgraded to the Silver package. I would surely HOPE I do after paying almost $500! {grin}

Unfortunately, no. $20 to purchase. Because I'm exercising self-control today, I won't grumble and complain. [grin]

I did, however, learn that I can double-click a word and Logos will search my available resources. In this case, when I did that for "corpora," it brought up a couple of resources such that I eventually figured out it's simply the plural of corpus. (Actually, before that, I cheated and just copied and pasted the word into another window and used the online merriam-webster that way.)

Interestingly, when I'm on my iPad, I can perform a lookup and it DOES seem to reference an English dictionary..or somehow I stumbled around two days ago and managed to get to a standard dictionary.

I see from your next post that you found a solution. I would suggest that you check out an app called GreenShot.

It works well in Windows. I started using it when I worked in tech support for a software company. It was what they used. The free version worked quite nicely.

Without spending any money you might also want to consider WordWeb. They have a free version and it seems to work 'ok' with windows. It does not work too well (hot key wise) on a mac though.
