I think quick bible referencing is a feature that is absolutely essential. Logos really, really needs to incorporate quick bible referencing into their software.

To explain what i mean by quick bible referencing...

It would be really great to have a way to enter multiple
bible references into logos in one go.

For example, Say I'm reading through a book and it provides
a reference to Romans 1:22-23 and Jeremiah 2:12-13. It would be great to be
able to quickly refer to these verses on logos (without slowing down my reading
of the book). I want to be able to quickly type these references into logos and
view them quickly.

It would be great if it were possible to just enter these references into logos
and have only those verses appear:

Romans 1:22-23 (ESV)

Claiming to be wise, they became fools, [23] and exchanged the glory of the
immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and
reptiles.

Jeremiah 2:12-13 (ESV)

Be appalled, O heavens, at this; be shocked, be utterly desolate, declares the
Lord, [13] for my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the
fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken
cisterns that can hold no water.

I have played with the verse lists, they work but they just take so long to
do when you're wanting to just quickly check out some bible references. They
are very tedious.

It would be great to be able to just use keyboard shortcuts.

For example, when you come across bible references while reading a book it
would be really quick to be able to press Ctr+Shift+G and type in 'Rom 1:22-23;
Jer 2:12-13' and have the verses show up.

Thanks Logos for your great software - it has been really helpful, I love it. May you pursue excellence in serving for the glory of God!

    Dave,

Logos already has a versatile feature for this. I use it all the time when reading the "hard copy" for books I don't have in my Libronix database. I realize it may not be the answer you're looking for, but it's the very simple verse list. I keep a verse list file entitled "External Refs". Getting the individual verses I want in whatever format I desire is as simple as leaving my "External Refs" verse list open and as expedient as I can click on the "add" button/icon and type in the verses I want separated by a semi-colon. When I'm done with the session, I either delete the block of verses, but not my file, or else decide to save the verse list and rename it according to the ref material I'm linking it to.

I have the flexibility of presetting how I want the verses to appear, etc., and changing it on the fly if I so desire. I just don't understand why that would need to be added to unless I'm missing something here in your request (always a possibility, of course, where online discussions are concerned).

    Godspeed,

    Debra

There is already a way to access references quickly (I'm assuming that these are textual references in some resource you are reading).  If you set up your program properly, you will be able to simply mouse-over the reference and view it in your favorite bible.  Go to "Tools | Options | Keylink", click on the "Display" button, and change the data type to "Bible" then in the box labelled "When the mouse hovers ..." select "Preview keylink in Tip Window."  That should do it.  You can't get much faster than that.

Oh?  I can only read one verse at a time.  I haven't developed the knack of reading a different verse with each eye, and I can't conceive of being able to go beyond two.  [A]

Like your humor George [:)] But you are right. I don't see better way to read than hovering over the reference and reading the Scripture, one at a time. When you learn how to read with each eye different stuff, let me know the secret. I badly need that. I am really behind my reading needs [:)]

If one leaves an empty verse list open, Logos comes very close - the real question is the ease of use including familiarity of required keystrokes. For this reason, I have other desired features I'd give higher priority although I understand why this is a desireable feature.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

"To explain what I mean by quick Bible referencing...It would be really great to have a way to enter multiple bible references into logos in one go."

I have this exact feature in my Japanese Bible software. It is called the "gather" feature and operates from a drop-down box. I enter a number of verses with semi-colons in between, much like Debra describes above. The only benefit I see in having multiple verses is being able to print out the list for Bible studies. When just reading through I find the "hover" feature that George describes above works best.

IDEA: Maybe in Logos 4.0 we can have a "gather" feature that will collect all verses we hover over and save them in the sequence we viewed them in. That would eliminate the "add" button step we currently have. Then we can read through our Libronix digital book and hover over each reference and create a verse list on the fly. Or Morris Proctor can tell us if this is already possible. I haven't yet done the Camp Logos training.
