Logos for Mac and RAM usage

I am a long time Mac and Logos user and have managed this problem for a while now, but the iMac that the church has provided is struggling and I am hoping someone can help. This mac has 8gigs of ram, which should be plenty, but, Logos seems to absolutely kill the ram on this. My Mac at home had a similar issue but since I upgraded the ram I no longer notice the drain. I can literally watch my available Ram go down moment after moment. And even with nothing running on this iMac, the absolute most ram it shows available is around 4 gigs. With a word doc, an internet browser and Logos going it can be really slow.

So, are there tricks, tips, or settings that I can adjust in Logos that limits the ram usage on the mac? Unfortunately, this iMac is not easily upgradable, and I would be very hesitant to try it myself.

Limiting the ram usage would be self defeating as Logos relies on that RAM to run. I hope that this is not a new computer because if it is then the Church has been 'sold a pup'.

Apple were a bit disingenuous when they kept selling 8GB machines when anyone with anything other than Pages, Numbers, and Keynote needs would start struggling with RAM limitations.

The only sensible way forward is either upgrade the ram or upgrade the whole machine.

My rMBP ran Logos 7 and earlier well with 8gb. It slowed down with Logos 8. My new machine with 16GB runs flawlessly. So it might just be the limits of the hardware.
