Request: User-Assigned Keys for Favorites Please

The ability to copy links or commands or just about anything into Favorites is very cool. And subdirectories within that is a great and powerful tool. Many thanks for that!!!

Now, would it be possible to assign a keypress to selected entries please?

We can already assign A-Z to Highlight codes (very nice - thanks).

We can assign one of four possible modes to Copy-Bible-Verse (3 settings or "None"). Nice!

We can assign Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+9 to Bookmarks. Also Nice!

Now, I know its easy to start running out of keys, and many are already used by Windows, other Applications, or other commands within Logos4. But it would be nice if we can assign keys to items within Favorites.

The UI for Highlights is a nice general model. It would of course need to include the ALT, Ctrl, and Shift combinations to be extended for use in other places.

OK, but then we must be able to submit a greater range of commands via the COM API to implement a range of things that will be impossible otherwise.

We're not currently building the COM API to support automating every single area of Logos 4, but only a few, limited, focussed areas. We will take all your feedback into consideration when planning extensions to it, but it's not likely to be increased dramatically in scope in the near future. I think the reverse would be more desirable. I never use Bookmarks. I love the capability of Favorites in L4.

Thanks for the additional information. I do remember reading the initial few messages about the COM API being limited.

I guess my view is that currently the COM API is almost, but not quite, actually useful for much.

If Logos4 is not going to have add-ins and a full object model as for L3, then in my view there is a need to at least be able to send UI actions or selected keys out via the API, and to have commands or instructions sent back. Hence my requests over the last while to have things such as:

assignable keys in Favorites, beyond bookmarks
ability to send a set of commands via the API to Logos4
ability to get sub-page navigation events and location reports (e.g. Location=Page.Paragraph)
ability to send sub-page navigation requests (e.g. Goto Page.Paragraph)
Ability to send UI actions within Logos4 to the API, e.g. Highlight some text, then press F9 or Control-<somekey>. At present, the API gets information about the highlighting, but nothing about the user giving any command the external application could take direct action from
Etc

I understand that what I think users like me might want, may not match what Logos thinks we need, or what Logos intends to provide.

I strongly encourage Logos to take the API to the next level of features to make it more useful, so users can create "solutions" that extend what the application can do without external interactions.
