Logos 9 is here

Here’s an overview of the new features in Logos 9. Not all features are available on every platform, but we’ve worked hard to deliver a consistent experience regardless of the platform you’re on, making it easier for you to continue your study no matter where you are and which device you have with you. Some features will be free for all users in Logos 9 Basic (coming in Q1 2021), some are in all paid base packages, and some are included only in higher base packages. Check out the feature comparison chart for a full breakdown.

Features

Desktop

  • Account menu: Easily switch to another Logos account on the same machine. (Does not enable license sharing.)
  • Charts tool: New graph types, animations, and export options to visualize your Bible search results.
  • Commentaries guide section redesign: Identify your commentaries at a glance with book covers, series abbreviations, and authors. Sort by default, series, or author; or group by Type of commentary, Era in which it was written, or Denomination of the author.
  • Counseling Guide: Find what your library has to say on over 300 counseling topics with this new guide and corresponding dataset. This feature is complemented in many Logos 9 libraries by counseling reference works from Tim Clinton, June Hunt, and many others.
  • Dark Theme: Give your eyes a break with the new dark application theme.
  • Docs update: Description, tags, and language make it easier to share the purpose of your documents, and to find others' content that is relevant to your study. The new Docs panel information pane also helps you keep track of which documents you have shared, and lets you preview the profile of the owner of public documents.
  • Factbook redesign: Start your study on anything in the vastly expanded Factbook. In addition to people, places, and concepts, Factbook now supports lookup for Bible passages, Greek and Hebrew lemmas and word senses, original manuscripts, authors, resources, and much more. Start with the Key Article for a quick summary, and click through to other Logos tools and searches to dig deeper.
  • Factbook integrations: A new visual filter in Bibles highlights People, Places, and Things, with links to Factbook pages for when you need quick reference. Smart Factbook suggestions are also now integrated with the Go box and search results.
  • MediaAccess all your uploaded media from anywhere in your personal vault at https://amber.faithlife.com.
  • Note updates: Add images to your notes from your resources, stock photos, or phone camera. Your responses in resource text boxes (in books like study guides) are now integrated with the Notes tool for browsing and searching.
  • Reading Plans update: Easily start a reading plan from any resource in your library, with sessions intelligently broken down by table of contents. The new option to "Read at your own pace" allows you to track progress without the pressure.
  • Shortcuts bar updates: Organize your shortcuts in folders. Shortcuts that overflow the width of the toolbar are now listed in a dropdown menu.
  • User Interface: New branding in logo and splash screen. App menu now offers quick access to change program scaling, switch to Dark Mode, and more.
  • Sermon Builder: Save your favorite sermon outline as a Template to jumpstart your next sermon. Refer to your research notes and insert commentary highlights and other quotes with the Notebook Sidebar. Bring your sermon to the pulpit in Preaching Mode: a clean format with no distractions.
  • Sermon Manager: View and browse all your sermon documents with facets like date, passage, and topic. Bulk create a sermon series, or import your entire liturgical season, complete with passages for every reading. Plot out your preaching schedule alongside your Faithlife church calendar, and see your entire year at a glance in the radial calendar view.

Mobile

  • Reading Plans: Organize and schedule your reading in seconds. Create a list of books in your library that you want to read with the new Read Later feature, then start a reading plan when you’re ready to dig in. Just choose the book, pick a time frame, and the plan is in place. It’s that simple.
  • Preaching Mode: With Preaching Mode, your sermon outline or manuscript is easy to read, you get a clear view of all your slides, and a built-in timer gives you a heads-up if you’re going long. And it works perfectly offline.
  • Factbook: When you have to squeeze sermon prep between that hospital visit and the deacon meeting, there’s no time to waste. Just search for your sermon passage or topic to find curated overviews. Or dive deep into trusted sermon resources. Factbook is available for mobile for the first time!
  • Passage Lists: Use Reference Scanner to snap a picture of a document and look up many verses at once, then save those verses as a Passage List.
  • Improved Resource Navigation: Access powerful search features from any book or resource. Quickly navigate to to any verse in the Bible, or search your library to go deeper.
  • Keyboard Shortcuts: Now available on iPad for the first time
  • Simplified More menu: We simplified and organized the more menu to make it easier and faster to find what you need.
