Finding Sermon Ideas in Unlikely Places?

I do my sermon preparation in Logos 4. So there are times I might check the PRODUCTS page of Logos on the web to see what other resources Logos offers on the subject I am currently investigating. In the process, I often find helpful ideas in the descriptions of different titles and the purposes of the authors. I have been amazed at how often I have gleaned an important insight from this area of the Logos web site.

Last time I remember, Logos has over 11,000 (?) titles, if I am correct and before Zondervan came on board they claimed over 70 % of all Christian titles for computers was in the Logos format. [Now I imagine that percentage has to be much higher.]

Anyone else find this to be a seed bed of sermon helps, illustrations, etc. ?

God often speaks to us in any number of ways (product pages, devotionals, book previews, blog articles, etc). One piece of advice a wise pastor gave me during my ordination was never read the bible or other books and resources looking for sermons; rather read for yourself and let God speak about the messages He would have you prepare and deliver. I remember that admonition often.

Yes, I agree. That is sound advice. I am speaking of supplemental information that I have "accidently" found while perusing the pages of Logos. For me, that was an unlikely place. My experience with Logos is that I am usually pleasantly surprised ... so I shouldn't be surprised.
