New in Logos 9: Shortcuts bar updates
Description: Organize your shortcuts in folders. Shortcuts that overflow the width of the toolbar are now listed in a dropdown menu.

I decided to tackle this today and make folders for shortcuts. In organizing it became very clear that unless you have a big screen, your folder listings can run off into the drop down quickly too. So I made a relatively short list and used abbreviated naming so the folders would not take up much room. Bibles = B Study Bibles = SB Original Language = OL Cross Reference = CRF Dictionaries/Enclyclopedias = DICT Commentaries = COM You can shorten some of these conventions too, but this is my starting point. I work mostly on a 15" laptop right now so this ought to be a helpful beginning for many of you.

Great tip on the abbreviations, but I didn't think of that ahead of time, and now I feel like I have less room on my shortcuts bar. Do you know how to rename the shortcuts folders? or delete them and start over?

Right click on each resource within the folder and from the right click menu, rename the folder name to watch you wish it to be. Once you have done this, the new folder will appear in the shortcuts bar. Once each and every resource is done, the old folder will disappear.

Appreciate the help. I have only had Logos for a month, so I was still in the overwhelmed phase and now I have to learn 9 as well. Thanks.

How do you add items to the folder and how do you locate the items you have added? Is it drag and drop?

In Windows, you right click on a resource on the shortcuts bar and enter a folder name. Once you press enter, the the folder is created and the resource will then be in the folder. Repeat this step for every resource that you want to put in the folder. Just be sure to use the exact same folder name. There is no drag and drop.

Seems to be alphabetical. Once we get drag and drop, I am sure can adjust the order as needed

There is a work around for that (thanks Morris Proctor).
Right click on the resource that you want on top. In the "Show Label" box put a 1 and then a space in front of the book you want on top. Repeat with number 2,3,4 and so forth. Please note: You do not have to put a check mark in the Show Labels box for this to work.

I would like to see some sort of nesting folders, but so far this is much better. I tightened the naming convention abbreviations for the folders in some cases. Makes for a much more neat view. I don't think this has hit the web app yet though--it really needs it.

You actually can adjust the order. Simply put a number in front of each of the books in the folder and they will list numerically. That way you can put your favorites at the top.
