Using the Link Icon to Link to Another Resource

I was just now reading Adam Shaeffer's article, Logos Tech Tip: Store Ideas, Articles, and Videos Across the Web in Logos.

In it, he says, "Use the 'link' icon to remind you this passage has a link to another resource. When you click the link in the note, Logos takes you straight to that location." Then he has a screenshot, but it's not large enough for me to see and I can't enlarge it on my desktop.

How do I use a 'link' icon to remind me a passage has a link? (I have only a minimal knowledge of how notes work.) I often cross-reference blog articles and other online resources and would LOVE to "connect" them with Bible verses.

To demonstrate this, I've copied the URL of your post here.

I've created a note - linked to Ruth 1:6 - and added the URL of your post to the note's content.

You can choose from a number of icons to indicate the presence of a note, one of which is a link icon

Now when I come to that verse, I will see the icon. Clicking it will open the note from where I can access the URL the note refers to

Found it! And while I was there, I learned I can create another note for the same verse reference, change the icon, and now it shows two icons. Makes sense. Thanks!

One other quickie: I said earlier that I'm not that familiar with using Notes. Actually, that's not entirely true since I'm a longtime Evernote user, and according to Morris Proctor, the Logos Notes functionality has been built on the Evernote model. Good choice! Evernote is great! It's my digital repository of almost EVERYTHING on my computer.

The one downside is that Logos Notes depends on tags for searching rather than allowing for full-text searches, right? That's what Moe said. For that reason, I'm more likely to use Clippings for quick captures. Then, I'll move them over to Evernote or Scrivener for formatting.

I just watched Moe's seminar on Personal Books. THAT's where I'm heading with this. I've always wanted to produce a kind of personal Study Bible, drawing from my vast library of all kinds of "collections" I've stored in Evernote. Now I can finally do it. Plus, I also blog. So everything I get my hands on can be used within a blog post. My head is spinning with the endless possibilities. LOL!

Search in Clippings is much the same as in Notes - the results will link to a clipping, but you have to find the result within the clipping. Searching Tags is obviously better because there is a fixed location for them.

But Clippings are better for study notes, even without exporting to Word for better formatting.

The regular Logos full-text search engine can be used to search "Your Documents" in the Search Panel. However, this full-text search is not exposed within the Notes Panel itself.

You just confirmed what I was thinking. I like the index-card look, and most importantly, being able to drag-and-drop them in the order you want, much like I do with documents in Scrivener. Thanks!
