Logos training: Equivalent Resources

From Verbum Help:

[quote]Equivalent Resources

Equivalent resources are resources that have the same (or virtually the same) surface text, but differ in presentation, or because of additional data and analysis, is applied to that text. For example, the Lexham Hebrew Bible and the Lexham Hebrew Interlinear both have the same words in them, but the interlinear also has interlinear glosses.

Click the wavy equal sign to display the equivalent resources pane at the top of the resource panel. Click a book cover to open that resource in this panel.

Windows keyboard shortcuts:

•   Ctrl+Shift+left arrow — Previous equivalent resource

•   Ctrl+Shift+right arrow — Next equivalent resource

Mac keyboard shortcuts:

•   Shift+Cmd+right arrow — Go to next equivalent resource

•   Shift+Cmd+left arrow — Go to previous equivalent resource[1]

This is a feature that is not consistently implement which is a shame as it is very helpful in assisting the user to understand the relationships between their resources.

Please let me know of other equivalent resources – or resources that should be coded as equivalent resources. Note that the list above is more complete than the wiki.

  1. Click on the Equivalent Resources button (1).
  2. This opens a ribbon (2) with the equivalent resources set shown by thumbnail cover, name, and an orange line indicating the active resource.
  3. Click on a resource in the ribbon to switch to that resource.
  4. Alternative, with your cursor in the body of the resource (3) one may spin through the list via:
  • Use Ctrl+Shift+right arrow to change to the previous equivalent resource.
  • Use Ctrl+Shift+left arrowto change to the next equivalent resource.

The major advantage of Equivalent Resources is that the user does not need to remember what related resources they own the give additional coding for a particular text. You don’t have to remember whether you have morphology coding for Swete or Rahlf… if you own the equivalent resources, a single click shows you and gives you access.
