Courses Tool and changing the timeframe for completion

Has it always been the case that we can't change the timeframe for completing a course?  Looks like the number of sessions is dictating how many days to complete.  What if I want to shorten that timeframe? See screenshot:

You should have the option to go at your own pace, just click on "every day".
