After updating to L9, my home page now has more than 35 cards showing under the Explore section, and I don't have ANY of the boxes checked.
Perhaps I am misremembering, but I thought I had all that turned off in L8.

That's odd Doc. When I untick all the boxes it all goes blank.
I have restarted the application and the settings remained unticked.

After a couple restarts and some patience (this thing responds very slowly, like a teenager with angst), they went away.
