Intertextual Search from OT to OT or NT to NT
Hey all,
I am doing research on Deuteronomy and I am using the intertext feature in the Bible Book Explorer, but it only shows results for the NT. How can I search for results in the OT as well?

Andrew, unless I'm mistaken the Intertext feature in Bible Books Explorer cannot search for OT uses of OT text.
This is because it is visualizing information from the "New Testament Use of the Old Testament Dataset".

Thank you, Kevin. So, is there a search formula then that can give me such results?

Others may have better solutions, but this is one way I've found has been fruitful in my own study (see the image below)
- Run a Search, and select Basic (not Bible).
- Set your search parameters to All Text in Old Testament in All Bibles.
- Then, in the search box, enter the passage/verse for which you are looking in carrots (e.g. <Deut 6:4-9>)
This will return results for all the footnote references in any given Bible (i.e. cross references already indicated by the editors of a Bible). I find the ESV to be particularly well marked up.
At the very least, this may provide a good start.

Sure thing. I'm bet this resource would be most helpful in such research, but alas!, it won't be published until 2021...

Oh man, YES! Thankfully I have a year and a half until my work on my dissertation intensifies. I already pre-ordered it. Thanks again, Kevin ! [:D]

The bug in this thread has been fixed, is in testing now, and will appear in a resource update soon. (I did not also add Enoch data, just fixed the bug.) Thanks again!

Hi Eli / Phil,
Any plans to expand this tool to include OT/OT and NT/NT intertextual relationships?
Thanks,
Peter

More like inklings of ideas than plans at this point.

Dave Hooton, I'm reaching out to you as you have been a vocal supporter of this idea in the past. Your comment would go a long way towards firming up support for this idea not to mention your vote.
