Can L9 Handle 60,000 notes?
I've been using Logos from way back when it was known as Libronix...
So I have, after around 15 years of using, just south of 60,000 notes
L7 handled my notes just fine...L8, not so well
Lots of crashing, and the remote server...was...sooooo...slllllooooooooooow...
I've been on the forum complaining about it, I have asked for tech support, and I was basically told that I just have too many notes
So as 9 rolls out (and it looks good, btw), that is a lingering question that I have as I consider whether or not to upgrade
My last upgrade didn't work out so well.
So...can L9 handle my notes?
Thanks

I think it probably should very well. My L9 runs fine with even some more, but near half of it (30k) are highlights. I highlight a lot, but I must admit that some of the highlights and much of the notes are imported notebooks from others. So it handles over 70k notes for me. On a Win10 machine with an SSD. However, if all your 60k are notes and the average note is a multi-page document - maybe with lots of formatting, Asian language text and such that takes much space - it's less comparable, or if you're on a Mac or still run a spinning HDD.
But that's all beside the point - L7 to L8 was the complete replacement of the Notes system, all notes had to be taken from the old notebooks and moved to the new database-driven storage. L8 to L9 is "just" the additional functionality of pictures in notes, no rework of the existing ones. So L9 would handle your notes not worse than L8 did prior to migration.
Have joy in the Lord!

I'm sorry to hear that. That's not typical. I'm not sure what the source of the problem is for you, but we'd be happy to look into it. Can we have your permission to load a copy of your Notes database to see if we can reproduce the problems?

I'm sorry you were told that. It's not true. We architected new notes to be able to handle hundreds of thousands of notes or more.

It should be able to. We can test it for you, with your permission.

Like Mozart? You're in good company, Chris! [;)] Seriously though, please keep us posted about how this works out for you.

Hi Chris. I have 50+notebooks, the largest with 32k notes. It's working fine in L9.
Several versions ago I found, I found that, to get reasonable performance, I needed to split the notes into separate documents with no more than 32k notes (highlights actually) in any one file. So I haven't really tested L9 with 60k notes in a single document.
