After working with Logos, I fully understand the awesome task of transiting WS files to Logos. And I fully understand what I am about to ask in that regard....

I believe My Verse Lists in WS will transfer into Logos Docs Passage List - verily easily.  But.... My Documents and User Books won't.... sooo....

I pray and hope... Logos will add 2 capabilities to the Logos Docs folder....

1. That we be able to create doc files like WS has in WS My Documents.

2. That we have the ability to create User Books like WS has.

Then all of our WS files for these will just be transferred to Logos place on our hard disk.

I have mucho lotso files in My Documents and some important files in User Books.

I suggest just adding these two capabilities to Logos Docs and allow WS people in Basic and Starter to be able to access them (don't put these capabilities in Bronz or Silver or Gold). Those packages can access them if you like, but at least let us WS people have access.

This way, you only have code the two capabilities into the Docs to be able to read-write-edit the files.

Seems simple to me.... but I'm a simple minded man. Big Smile

I have no knowledge regarding what is being transferred but have you looked at Personal Books as an option for User Books?

    See https://wiki.logos.com/Personal_Books for some details

Graham - Appreciate you man, you have been very helpful to me. Thank you.

The problem I see with the way Personal Books work is that I have do the following:

    1. Copy my document in WS to MS Word.

    2. Reformat everything.

    3. Print to a pdf file.

    4. Import the pdf file into Logos Personal Books.

    5. Repeat for each of the many many documents I have.

Maybe I'm missing something....    Logos said they would transition them to Logos, I think they will.... and in looking at it all... I was making a suggestion that IMHO would be an easier way to go.   I mean, Logos now has the code for My Documents and User Books from WS.. So it might be easier to add to items to Logos Docs and then add in Logos search, etc....

But I don't know Logos code...  Many years ago... I programmed... but I was the chief spaghetti code writer among all the chiefs of spaghetti code writers. [8-|]  Now as many have seen I can't even find a scroll down bar on a screen!!! lol.

Why would you do steps 2 and 3? Logos PBs are created from Word documents, not from PDFs. We'll see how Logos converts those - maybe as notes (I seem to recall that another user wrote that in WS those books could only be rather small).

Have joy in the Lord! Smile

NB.Mick --- I'm gonna try your suggestion today...  Didn't know it would work like that. Thanks

Edit:  Tried it and a problem.....  I have verse references in my original file.... and when the file is imported into Personal Books.. those verse references still link back to my NKJV (the Bible the apostles carried in the hip pocket of their Levi's when they walked on the earth [:D]) ... back in WordSearch.  And I can't edit them to make the verse reference my NKJV in Logos.   So the new file becomes a dead file.

Now if I re-type my file in Personal Books and put in the verse references... I figure all is well. But that's a lotta time!!!

I figure when Logos people get to transitioning my User Books and My Documents in WS into Logos... that the verse references will work.

    Unless I missed something....

Edit#2: So I went back into my docx file... removed all the hyperlinks then deleted the file I had created in Logos and re-imported the docs file and wiolla!!  it worked! all the reverences reference Logos NKJV.

Now... I think I can write a script in MS Word to remove all the hyperlinks ... The reason I'm working on this... is I have some files I want to get over quickly so I can continue to work on them in Logos.  The majority of My Docs and User Books can wait.

So today is good day.... I learned something already!!! Learn a little bit every day and soon I'll be smarter than the average bear!! lol
