parallel resources -difference in timing

It seems to take longer to open the parrallel resource list from the button marked Parallel Resource sets than it does it you click on the + button and add a new resource.  Aren't these two doing basically the same thing (one changes the book you are viewing to a new book whereas the other opens a new book)?  Is there a reason why one takes longer than the other to view the list of parallel resources?

They both perform a search of collections but the similar resource (+) collection is more static & results in a faster search. On average the + button displays results faster than the PRS button.
