Factbook - Context = Contextualization?

I had never used the Factbook previously, it always seemed a bit too basic but with all of the hype surrounding the Factbook in Logo 9, I thought I would give it a try.

I wanted some information on a very basic concept - the importance of context in biblical interpretation.

But the Factbook appears to think that the concept of context = contextualization. But they are two very different things.

There was an entry for "Literary Context" but the amount of information was too sparse to be of any value.

So while the Factbook is a good idea, I don't think it's ready for prime time.

At least, that is my view after my brief 5 minute interaction with the Factbook.

Yes, no, maybe ... there is certainly a lots of work to be done before any judgment can be made. But one can say that it is headed in a good direction. However, it is critical that people like yourself, spend some time with it and express your concerns ... that is what is needed to help Faithlife truly make it successful.

Thanks for your feedback, Rod. As MJ suggests, Factbook is still a work in progress.

For the Factbook page on Literary Context, we've got a fair amount of content, but all the data connections haven't shipped yet, so they don't yet appear on the Factbook page. I believe an update next week will remedy that, so (depending on the size of your library) there should be content there soon.

I assume you wound up on the Factbook page for Context. I'd agree that context and contextualization are different things, and this page is really about the latter, which also seems like a clearer title for this page. I'll make that change.

One of the great challenges of Factbook is finding the right associations between terms and intended meanings: many or most terms can mean many different things. Please let us know when Factbook comes up short for you, so we can continue to improve it.
