Aside: Search multiple Bibles
From Verbum Help:
To search a specific Bible or group of Bibles, click All Bibles, enter a resource title or abbreviation in the Find box, or choose from the drop-down list:
- The Find box supports Library filtering syntax and will create a “Quick Collection” of resources matching the entered filter.
- Top Bibles (top 5 Bibles in resource priority)
- All Bibles
- All Open Bibles
- Specific Open Bible
- User-defined Collections
- System-defined Series[1]
- The Find box (1) allows you to enter a Bible title or abbreviation, a collection name, my tag values, a series name, or a library filter rule. The list of all available Bibles is the last section in the selection menu
- The fixed options (2) of Top Bibles, All Bibles, and All Open Bibles are presented next. Top Bibles is dependent upon your prioritization of Bibles or the Verbum default. All Bibles is dependent upon your library. All Open Bibles in dependent upon your current layout.
- When there are Bibles opened, the next option (3) allows you to select from among your currently open Bibles.
- Then comes various options in the following groupings (4):
- Collections
- Tags and Ratings
- Series
- All Bibles
Each of these is demonstrated below. Note the examples will keep changing in order to illustrate features with a reasonably compact screen shot.
Bible search results views
For comparing the view, the Bible search on All Bible Text in All Passages in Top Bibles for Cain INTERSECTS <Person Cain> is used as the example.
Grid view
In Grid view. the translations are shown via colored boxes indicating the verse is selected (colored) or not selected (box not colored in). Only the first Bible’s text is shown.
Verse view
In this view, the results are shown by Bible reference sequence within resource. It drives me nuts that one cannot collapse at the resource level.
Aligned view
The aligned view is similar to the verses view in that the results are shown by Bible reference sequence within resource. The difference it that in the aligned view, the matched search argument from the verses are aligned with the preceding and following text being limited by space available rather than verse boundaries.
Analysis view
The analysis view makes a variety of lexical and grammatical data available – fields that will be discussed in detail later. The full list of available data is provided below.
