Using the app on iPad, can I increase the font size somehow?

Yes you can change the font size. With a resource open, tap the screen so the header pops down from the top. Tap on the three vertical dots to the right in the header and tap View Settings. There will be a font size slider you can use to adjust the font size up or down.
