Hallo, hopefully bothering one last time around this forum:
What is your honest opinion of Logos 9 portfolio (Deutsch)? Worth getting it, and why?
Thanks for your answers.
Of course, it depends. It depends on your interests, your budget and what's in your library now, thus: what's your dynamic price and what do you get for it?
In my case, I didn't buy Portfolio Deutsch - in fact, the first and highest L9 package I bought was Platinum Deutsch. I am neither a pastor nor a formal student, just a broadly interested layman. Thus I rather get many lower level packages from the many streams Faithlife offers, than buying one stream through the end. Since I own a large library, dynamic pricing makes it worthwhile.
Looking at L9 Portfolio Deutsch, all I'd get would be two commentary sets (some 40 vols. each of Herder's and ICC, mostly Old Thestament) and the 12 ridiculously priced TUAT books. Why would I pay nearly $800 (dynamic price) for that? A scholar sitting over a PhD dissertation would probably jump at the opportunity of getting such academic books for a fraction of the sticker value of way over $6,300. I pass. But maybe that's just because I already own all the good things you would get when you buy it.
Thanks NB Mick for your answer.
To tell you the truth the dynamic price for me was 1022 or so usd, the new commentary (theologically oriented) alone was like 2000 something, plus there were other sets and resources.
I am at the most amateur level, but I find fascinating that different countries seem to approach different themes in total different angles. So I did jump at the offer, because it will probably be a while before it comes up again.
I hope I can eventually be able to read in German, enough to be able to string good search terms to quickly access insights in the package resources.
It is amazing that we have access to such variety of resources from different traditions, denominations, and languages. I have to give the benefit of the doubt to most, and seek to see what important insight the Holy Spirit has given each.
Maybe I am overshooting, but each has a different past time / hobby, and to me trying to get deeper into theology is the best one. [although is not easy at times].
Peace and grace.
If you want HThKAT Portfolio is probably the best way to get it. (The english commentaries are availible in cheaper english packages.)
Bonhoeffer may be another point.
If you don't want HThKAT, a smaller one would be better.
Of course there are some great ressources, someone stuying OT would appreciate (BHQ, LXX.D, Vulgate with Apparatus (Why only in the largest package? [:(]), but for me, nothing that justifies the step from Diamant to Portfolio.
