Question about resources

I purchased the Gold package some time ago. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a resource (book, commentary, etc.) that might be available to me that basically identifies where the Bible is quoting from other biblical passages? I've started a study of the book of Hebrews, and right in the first chapter there are many places where Paul seems to be quoting from what I assume are Old Testament sources. Is there any resource in Logos that catalogs these types of occurrences?

First, do you have under Tools at the top, the New Testament Use of the Old Testament interactive? I think you should have it if you have L8 Gold. If not, it is available here for only $14.99. There is also a video at that link that shows you how to use it.

Second, I know that you were looking for something that you already own, but one of the most popular sources for such information is Carson and Beale's Commentary on the New Testament Use of the Old Testament. It is more expensive ($64.99) but very helpful. If you decide that you are interested in it, you could get the G.K. Beale New Testament Use of the Old Testament Collection, which is $86.99, but you would add three additional valuable resources for the extra $22.

Have you tried running a "Passage Guide"? It has a section that displays Parallel Passages. When I just ran a quick passage guide on Heb 2, I got two different resources that are highlighted there - Philipps "Old Testament Quotes in the New Testament" and Jones "Old Testament Quotations and Allusions in the New Testament". Both are datasets that are not available separately, but I strongly suspect are part of your Gold package.

Hi William,

There is a guide in the Guide tab called Concordance. If you open the Guides and type concordance in the find box you will see it to open in.

Open it and then if you hover over the top you will see a settings button. Click on it and select Intertext:

Now link it to your Bible and as you go verse by verse through the text any that have relation to the Old Testament will pop up in the Intertext Guide.

You can see here that Heb 1.2 has a relation to Ps 2.8 as an allusion. Since the guide does not populate many verses you can make it smaller and out of the way or you can include a concordance section in a Passage Guide and leave that section visible and open. It will not be included in the default Passage Guide so you will need to add it and then change the settings to Intertext.

This is for me the best way to see intertextual relationships in the Biblical text.
