Containing what was to have been Chapter XVII from Church Dogmatics IV, Part 4, and other fragments from his literary remains.
Karl Barth for Dummies (on Facebook) has been posting quotes from it lately, and it is very enticing. Some examples:
"It cannot be emphasized enough that in Jesus Christ true humanity as well as true God is present and manifest."
"There is no abstract humanity and therefore no correspondingly abstract human self-understanding. Human beings are no more, no less, no other that what they are through and with and for Jesus Christ."
"The first and last word about humanity as well as about God is spoken in Jesus Christ. Those who hear this word not only know themselves but they know their fellow human beings as well."
"Authentic and assured human understanding is that in which we know, see and understand who and what we are on the basis of Jesus Christ, together with him, and in orientation to him. For in Christ we are claimed by God, judged by God and saved by God."
"From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view" (2 Corinthians 5:16). That is, we judge no one according to the measure of a general human understanding. All are what they are or are not in a circle around Jesus Christ.
