AMD Ryzen Processor
I was wondering if any of you are running Logos/Verbum on a AMD Ryzen Processor. I know the processor is excellent for gaming but wondered how it handled Logos/Verbum. Any comments would be appreciated.

I have an AMD 2600X and it works as well as my Intel i5 and i7.

I'm using a ryzen 5 3600 in two different machines and Logos performs well.

Running R9 3950x and things seem peppy enough.
I was renaming some resources in my library so that the collection would present in English Bible order as opposed to alphabetical. On my older Intel system, which I always thought ran Logos pretty well, I could rename about a dozen or so resources in my rather large library before the system reindexed and reordered them in one large batch. Now, on my Ryzen, I can't even finish renaming a second title before Logos has reindexed and reordered the title I just previously finished.
Fwiw, I've always run L4-8 so that it boots up with anywhere from 80-100 resources and searches active in half-a-dozen to a dozen windows, even on my older system. Of course, the system isn't required to keep them all in active memory, but there is a tax on the processor for each open resource. I've never had a sense that Logos was laggy beyond what I would expect for a system coping with a program running tens of gigs of data. The Ryzen, which I haven't had running for very long, seems like it will only improve things significantly.
Btw, what's the word regarding Logos's (and Verbum's) ability to utilize multiple cores? Happytown or Disappointmentville?

David, that is a question I can not answer. Someone from Faithlife would have to chime in on that.

At this point, about the only reason to go with Intel is if you are gaming (since even high-end games don't tend to take advantage of AMD'S more advanced multi-core architecture), and even there any advantage is slight to infinitesimal...and even so, that advantage is receding given that AMD appears to be on a faster product introduction schedule than Intel.

After reading this thread I am very hesitant to buy the newest 11th Gen processor from Intel.

I personally think Intel will get very sloppy in the not to distant future. AMD is kicking their can and Apple is kicking them to the curb. (My personal opinion)

Yeah, I've always been a reverse snob with regard to Apple, but their new M1 architecture is impressive enough that I just might consider an Apple in the future. For now, I just finished assembling my AMD system a few weeks ago. Should last me awhile.

I have to agree that the M1 is quite impressive. I have an older MacBook Pro, I think about 8 or 9 years old now. It still runs good but due to be replaced in a year or so. At that time I more than likely will get a new MacBook with M1 or what ever it is at that point in time. I won't say I'm exactly a fanboy of Apple but I do like them and would buy one again.
I am also looking to build my own AMD PC. I have not built one in several years and that is a serious consideration with wanting to go with AMD instead of Intel.
What motherboard did you go with in your build?

My PC CPU is Threadripper 1920X 12 Core 24 Threads 32 gig memory. It’s proved a phenomenal increase in overall speed in indexing and searches of any kind; far better than the previous PC’s I7-8700 at 32 memory. During indexing CPU is a flicker, literally a quick bump maxing 30-35% then less than 10-15% until indexing is completed where the I7-8700 ran at 100% use at 4-5 times the length of time of the Threadripper.

I'm running on a Ryzen 7 3700U (Lenovo s145 Laptop) and the performance is excellent. I believe that due to the integration between video and processor because of the APU, we have an interesting increase in graphics performance here.

I finally decided to go with the ASRock x570 Creator, which is the flagship mobo for ASRock (if you don't count the limited edition Aqua). The primary advantage of these two mobos is that they have Thunderbolt 3 ports, which is rare for AMD mobos. Was considering the Aorus Extreme and Meg Godlike, but their lack of TB3 and higher prices pushed me toward the Creator. Other advantages include ATX form factor (both others were EATX), which allowed me to install my rad & fans without space conflict. Godlike is the fastest x570 available, and Extreme has best VRM & heatsink (which makes it only x570 mobo w/o a chipset fan), and I almost purchased each of them, but settled on Creator and saved about $150-250 compared to the others. Still haven't overclocked it yet. I'll probably wait until I start doing video editing (reason I bought this system) to see how well it does, as is. Have an Asus RTX 2080ti 11gb OC gpu, so editing in Resolve (which is gpu intensive) should go easily, but if I'm feeling constrained, I may add and bridge a second gpu later.

That's very interesting, I wonder what the next bottleneck is?

Running an older Ryzen 7 1700, 16gb of ram, 1tb m.2, r9 290 graphics on an asus crosshair hero vi board.
I'm happy with my build.
I built it the year Ryzen became a thing, so its aging at this point. But were still getting it done, and I've never seen the processor max out while indexing etc. In fact I used my recent birthday credit to purchase 3 base packages (with dynamic pricing, I picked up about a dozen books or so). processor hit 30% for a second or two, and then it seemed to be finished with the indexing. Then right back down to its .1-1% normal.L2 lvl4 (...) WORDsearch, all the way through L10,
