Embedding External Pics when creating Personal Book

Hi Folks:

I have an html that has dozens of pictures in it.   I can convert it to a word Doc with no problems but when I import the word doc as a personal book the pictures (in the same folder as the html file) do not show.

I'm assuming I need to embed instead of link to the pictures in the word doc.  Is there a way to do that easily?

No idea, sorry. Out of curiosity: Do the pictures show up in the Word document? Have you tried pasting in a photo?

Hi Matthew,

You will need to insert the images directly into the document. Dragging and dropping will not work. I hope that helps.

In Word try this before you save as docx:

Click File > Info > Edit Links To Files (Edit Links is in the Related Documents section on the bottom right). This opens the Links dialog.

Select all the links in Links dialog, and then click Break Link.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

So I found two ways of doing it.

If you follow Bernards instructions, when you click on the "Edit Links to Files" there is a box in the bottom left of the pop-up that says "Save Picture in document".   I  first selected all the files, clicked the "Save Picture in Document, clicked ok, then did a "Save As" and saved it as a word document.  This worked as I'd hoped so the images are embedded in the file.

I actually though prior to seeing Bernhards response had found a more round-about way of doing the that had a beneficial extra effect:

1. I opened the html file in Word and saved it as a Word docx file. Then from within Word I printed to a PDF  (using acrobat PDF).  The PDF file had all the images embedded. 

2.  The extra benefit came when I exported from the PDF back to a Word Docx.  In the Original Word Doc and the PDF there was no navigation (Menu).  When I converted it from the PDF to the Word Doc it must have found what it though was the menu. So when I opened the new Word DOC it had almost the full Menu already (I had to spend about 15 minutes adjusting it, but saved about an hour probably.).  It looks really nice in Logos now [:D]
