In sermon builder I am trying to figure out how to enter a new line without it being a new paragraph.  Normally I use shift + enter but that doesn't seem to work.

I'm not sure if this is supported. Can you help us understand why you want this functionality? It'll help us figure out how to prioritize it.

Lack of this sort of functionality is one of the reasons I stick to using a word processor at the moment.

Once in a while I want to include this ancient text in one of my services....

Our Father, who art in heaven hallowed be thy name,

    Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.

    Amen

but on the page I want it to look like this...

    Amen

I know I am strange but the forum coped with Shift+Return to insert 'New Line' rather than 'New Paragraph'

Anyone else use this sort of thing?

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

It is for formatting and readability as Mike illustrates in his post above.

I often copy in material from documents I have written previous to owning Logos.  When I copy and paste them into Logos they retain new line and new paragraph formatting.  But when I try to edit the notes or add to them I am unable to create new line formatting even though it exists in my copied text.  I then lose consistency in my notes formatting.  It seems weird that using copy and paste keeps formatting (including new line) in Logos but I can't create new line formatting in Logos.  That seems to me like the ability to duplicate new line is there just not the ability to create it within the program.

YES! This has been a standard feature in note taking apps for many years now. Even Facebook allows a shift-enter to give a new line without a new paragraph. This is a serious shortcoming. I've just started using the Sermon Builder, having misunderstood its usefulness due to it being poorly named. Morris Proctor helped me see its value for building lessons for teaching and for small groups.

Bring able to start a new line without it being a new paragraph is critical. I shouldn't have to type it in another app and then copy it into Sermon Builder to accomplish this.

Agree. This is a standard editing feature. Even in WhatsApp and Signal it works. Typically I need it,  when I want to have a new line within an enumeration (bullet or numbered list). In the Logos Sermon Builder I am only able to do one long string of words with out any newlines. This is really annoying.

    Something like this:

    1. Topic one:
      Explanation
    2. Topic two:
      Explanation

The forum editor does it right.

In the Sermon Builder it would look like this:

    1. Topic one: Explanation
    2. Topic two:Explanation

    Thank you for fixing this!

I have added my comment and vote to this thread in the Faithlife Feedback website, were users can request features and vote for existing requests:

Please vote there - everyone who wants this feature. Thank you.

I up-voted and added my 2 cents worth. But it looks like this feature isn't coming anytime soon. Including it in copy/paste, but not in direct input is what baffles me. I don't understand why they would include in one but not the other.
