(Non)Facet: SGNT Clause Syntactic data

The Syntactic Force and Prepositional Phrase segments of this data was discussed above.

Dataset

  • DB:SD-NT-SYNTACTIC-FORCE NT-SYNTACTIC-FORCE.lbssd)

Documentation

Lexham Syntactic Greek New Testament is contained in these resources:

Data

Values for name are available in Lukaszewski, Albert L. 2007. The Lexham Syntactic Greek New Testament Glossary. Lexham Press.

Values for morphology are derived from a Context Menu or built with the Morphology Search @ option in the Search Panel.

Louw-Nida numbers are derived from a Context Menu or from Louw, Johannes P., and Eugene Albert Nida. 1996. Greek-English lexicon of the New Testament: based on semantic domains.

New data provided by the resource

Values for name are available in Lukaszewski, Albert L. 2007. The Lexham Syntactic Greek New Testament Glossary. Lexham Press.

  • <SGNTClause = name> which includes <SGNTClause = Phrase (Prep)>
  • <SGNTSyntacticForce = name> OR {Section <SGNTSyntacticForce = name>} on manuscript and lemma

Only <SGNTClause = name> excluding <SGNTClause = Phrase (Prep)> is truly new.

Interactive

There is no interactive, but there is a clause visualization component:

Information Tool

The Information Tool appears to not work with clause visualization resources.

Context Menu

The Context Menu is well integrated with the resource:

When a Lexham SGNT Clause Structure is selected, the expected copy and search options are offered. “All resources” is limited to resources with access to the Lexham SGNT coding. Note that the Lookup function takes you to the appropriate glossary.

When a manuscript word or lemma is selected for opening the Context Menu, choosing the Lexham SGNT Syntactic Force provides copy, search, and lookup options as Lexham SGNT Clause Structure did.

If one focuses the Context Menu on the morphology, one finds that the Lookup function has disappeared. Verbum takes the position, unfortunately, that when there are multiple values that could be linked, show none.

Louw-Nida behaves as expected including the Look up function.

The final element is treated simply as text with copy, search, and look up in the top dictionaries. Mouse-over gives a preview of the dictionary entry.

Concordance

Not applicable as these are datatypes, not labels.

Search

From the first Context Menu, the search argument generated is: <SGNTClause = Clause (Ptc)>

From the second Context Menu, the search argument generated is: <SGNTSyntacticForce = dir. obj.> OR {Section <SGNTSyntacticForce = dir. obj.>}

From the third Context Menu, the search argument generated is: <LogosMorphGr ~ VPAP-SNM>

For Louw-Nida the search argument generated is <LouwNida = LN 23.1>
