Update Now Question
This isn't a major issue, but more of a curiosity.
When I "Update Now" if there are no updates, I get the small box in the lower right corner of my screen that says "No Updates Available No Updates Found." Isn't this redundant? Wouldn't either work? Why does it display both?

Because one is the title ("No Updates Available") and the other is the content ("No updates were found"). The latter does at least specify that it's not the case that updates were found but you can't have them because the Grinch stole Advent... and your updates.
