Do audio books sync with Verbum/iPhone?

I just bought The Imitation of Christ, an audio resource. It does not seem to sync the "last played" point between the Mac desktop Verbum and Verbum on an iPhone, in both cases it just brings up a list of all the chapters and it's up to me to pick the right place to play from. In fact, you can't even start playing without picking a place to play from, from what I can see. Is this how it works? I was really hoping to listen to it both in the car and at home without manually keeping track of where I am in the book.

I can’t speak authoritatively on this subject, but two observations. First, when I open the resource on mobile, I see what you see. I did however have a toast popup stating where I “read” last. I clicked it and nothing happened.

second: do you know how print resources sync between desktop and mobile? The limitations of that sync? Based on that, I’d not be too optimistic. In my opinion, if FL really wants to sell audiobooks they need a dedicated mobile app for audio.

Yes I see it now - on the right side next to the chapter, the little partially filled circle on the line with the current chapter. That seems to work! Thanks JT, I am somewhat familiar with the hoops needed to get it to sync. It does look like it is working now, whew! Thanks again.

I'm not sure what you are referring to, but I believe that you are talking about the "percent read" icons... but I am not seeing those for this resource. Here is a screen shot of the toast popup:

When I saw this last time, I clicked on it but nothing appeared to happen. That may have been simply a delay because the resource was not downloaded. This time, I took a screenshot. When the screenshot was finished taking, the popup disappeared before I could click on it. [:s]

I am somewhat familiar with the hoops needed to get it to sync.

I was in a hurry before, so let me break more explicit: There IS resource location sync between devices BUT it isn't ideal. I agree with the current implementation if my wishlist can't be implemented. Let me explain.

If you have "Book A" open on your laptop and read to page 54, when you open "Book A" on your mobile device, it will open to page 54. However, if "Book A" was already open on your mobile device, it will stay put. If other changes and new features aren't added, this should be the behavior. Logos isn't a simple ebook reader. It is a search library, and someone might be reading the same book for different purposes and want to have unique resource locations across devices.

For example: If a pastor prepares three sermons a week (Sunday morning, Night, Midweek), he may have good reasons to have different locations.

I understand why users would want the resources to sync across devices... and I agree. But a new feature would need to be added first. This is what I call "projects." The resource location would always sync between devices, but also be tied to projects. If you need to get to the right resource location for the project you were working on in the Desktop app, you will simply open the project on your mobile device. Until that happens, the current behavior should stay put.

Odd. I get a little progress circle:

And when I tap the circle it comes up with the VCR controls to play:

That is identical looking to the reading progress feature (which is what I assume it is). That might be helpful now, but once you have "read" all of the other chapters, you will have a bunch of progress circles.

In the Library on the desktop Pater Noster will be able to 'erase' those circles at will be resetting the reading percentage to zero,
