I know some have talked about wanting control over Icons on the shortcut bar. I put two Excel sheets on the bar. One of them is a list of devotional books. In Windows Vista I created a shortcut for it, changed the Icon in the properties options, and then dragged the icon to the shortcut bar. It maintained the icon I had chosen. Not perfect, but its better then having to hover over the icons :-)
