Repeat yesterday’s exercise of narrowing the list of data down to those that you know are of use to you now.
Then try this exercise: Consider the similarities and differences between the three topical lists below. Shade any topics that you believe to be a stretch working from the text. Do any of the lists meet your needs? If not, please advocate for changes you need to make a topical classification that truly does meet your needs.

KJV with Apocrypha does not have Apocrypha?
From Andrew Batishko:
[quote]The text you are seeing in the Library is the Series. KJV1900 is in a series title "The King James Version with Apocrypha" along with The King James Version Apocrypha (which just contains the Apocrypha books).
The Series means that if you are currently view the KJV1900, you can enter an Apocrypha reference in the navigation box for the resource, and the panel will automatically switch to displaying the Apocrypha resource.
Label: Bible Outline
This label supports the Bible Outline Browser and (Bible Reference) Outlines Guide.
Documentation
From Verbum Help:
[quote]Labels an outline of biblical text, especially in commentaries and Bible handbooks. These labels are used to populate the Outlines guide section, as well as the Bible Outline Browser interactive.
• Reference ~ <Bible ...> — The passage range covered by the outline.
For example:
• {Label Bible Outline WHERE Reference ~ <Bible Rom 5-7>}[1]
Outlines Section
This section links to resources that provide outlines on the guide key passage, such as Bible dictionaries and commentaries.
It is included in the Passage Guide, Sermon Starter Guide, and Exegetical Guide.[2]
Bible Outline Browser
Gathers all of the Bible outlines marked throughout the Library for a given passage, organizing them into an intuitive and easily searchable display. This is particularly useful for evaluating and comparing various ways of documenting the structure of a Bible passage for interpretation and sermon preparation. Requires a Bible and at least one resource with outline markup.[3]
Data
- {Label Bible Outline WHERE Reference ~ <Ge>}
Note that the only attribute is a Bible datatype.
Interactive: Bible Outline Browser
Nearly a thousand resources in my library are tagged for Bible Outline and, still, some of my favorites are missing. When limiting to outlines that cover the first pericope of the Gospel according to Mark, that drops to 68 outlines.
- This screen shot is of the Read view (1) which is intended to allow one to browse the outlines (selection of source in left panel) and/or view the outline, optionally with the Bible text displayed.
- One enters the passage (2) for which one wishes to see the available outlines.
- One selects the Bible (3) one wishes the Bible text to be drawn from.
- One selects an outline source (4) which
- marks the resource as active with the orange line
- expands the entry to show the outline below
- opens the resource outline in the panel on the right (5)
- the expand/contract arrowhead on the outline entry toggles the Biblical tex
- One can slide the selection panel out of/into sight (6)
- Each colored column represents a resource
- Each column within a resource represents an outline level
- Each horizontal line within a level represents the break between one entry and the next at the same level.
- Hovering over a entry/box in the chart will show you the title and scope of entry and all entries in the outline that include the entry i.e. entries up the outline hierarchy. Unfortunately, I can’t capture a screen that shows this.
A modification to this view has been requested: Selection on Bible Outline Browser | Faithlife Feedback
Guide: Outlines (Bible reference) Guide/Search
The Outlines Guide lists the occurrences of the Faithlife outline label in the alphabetic order by resource. On hover, it shows the resource text starting from the label. Unlike Sermons, this guide does not pick up user entered labels – an essential feature from my perspective. Therefore, I replace the Guide with a Search as shown below. Notes that the tags 1 and 2 point to user added labels.
Label visibility: Information, Context Menu
There are no surprises in the Information data. However, the Context Menu has a new option “edit label” because the label is user-added.
Highlighting/Add label
There are issues such as verse mapping that lead me to delay a discussion of user-labels. However, the necessary Highlighting palette with label is shown below.
