Searching whole bible in Greek
I noted that with the beta I have also acquired the Logos LXX. I was hoping to be able to search across both the LXX and the NA27 at the same time for a word rather than having to do separate searches for each area. In 3.0 I did this by switching to the NA27 with Gramcord morphology to match the morphology of the LXX which I have in 3.0. (I could then click on the reference for the NT and get the NA27 with Logos morphology since that is my preferred bible for NT while I had to click on the LXX It appears that this cannot be done in 4.0 since there is no provision for "All resources of the specified morphology." This would be a useful addition.
I also note that in searching the LXX for πέτρα in 4.0 I get 19 or 17 results depending on whether I choose Logos or Gramcord morphology (although it appears to be the identical list). Neither morphology displays the apocrypha when I choose "Bible and apocrypha." If I choose "Apocrypha" alone I get no results. In 3.0 I get 101 hits in 81 verses which does include the apocrypha.

Your v3 results are a lemma:πέτρα search. v4 πέτρα appears to be a surface/manuscript search ---> try lemma:πέτρα (if you select from the word list it automatically inserts lemma:).

Dave,
this is the way i had to do it to get any results:
1.) Made a LXX with Logos Morph/NA27 collection
2.) Started a morph search with Logos morph chosen
3.) typed in word; Logos added the Lemma and proper syntax
4.) hit the "basic search" button with the LXX/NA27 collection chosen
When I tried to just type the word, even though it was in a list; nothing would come up...i think it allows "lemma:any form" to happen...and so no results show.

I ended up with the search string <lemma = lbs/el/πέτρα> which did produce results in both LXX and NT including the apocrypha. This only seems to work in the "Bible" search. The "Morph" search is to be avoided at all costs since it displays all sorts of garbage from ENGLISH translations -- definitely not what I want when doing a morph search.
If you click on "Graph results" in the upper left next to the magnifying glass (Why do they insist on silly icons? Give me a word.), then you will get a graph for which you can choose "Result map", "Bar chart", "Column chart" or "Pie chart." Only the "Result map shows both LXX and NA27 though the others, excepting the pie chart, have a legend for the LXX. I'd probably never be much interested in this feature, but since we're testing this I checked it. Somewhat disappointing in what it doesn't do, namely, display the results for both testaments. Clicking on things doesn't seem to change the display at all -- i.e. I still can't display BOTH testaments.

would that work if you set up a collection of Greek resources with the same morphology?
Yes, that worked. With the tagging and bagging in 4.0 I had gotten away from creating collections. Unfortunately, when I tried to include other resources with Logos Greek morphology, they didn't appear in the results though I know from 3.0 that there are instances. Without a help file I'm having a difficult time in certain areas such as collections and tagging. I'm not sure what the function of each might be and when to use one rather than the other. I think I've got a handle on prioritizing -- it's simply throwing all of your preferred resources into one bucket and letting the program determine when one is appropriate rather than another -- I can forsee problems with this approach (or maybe I spilled coffee on my crystal ball).

George,
just curious; why didn't you do a basic search; it's faster and the only thing you lose is the "graph results" thing which you didn't like anyway.

While that does work, I don't like the layout. It's entirely too verbose and lists each work separately (i.e., even the bible text according to book rather than in a one line layout like the bible listing from which I can choose the column I wish). I would prefer a listing more like the bible listing.

George, Bob & other Morph Searchers
I've started a SUGGESTION thread for Morphology search at http://community.logos.com/forums/t/1998.aspx. Please add yours and/or comment.

Question:
What is the basis for the ranking in the results of a search based on morphology?
I recreated this search (for petra) (recreating it in itself was interesting between hangs, no help and my ignorance) but added the UBS 4 to the collection so I got duplicate hits in the NT. The ranking sort put the results in this order:
UBS4 Rev 6:15 - 2x (actually 1x in 6:15 and 1x in 6:16)
LogosLXX Prv 30:19 - 2x (actually 1x in 30:19 and 1x in 30:26)
LogosLXX Ps 60:3 - 1x
LogosLXX Nu 20:8 - 5x (actually 2x in 20:8, 2x in 20:10 and 1x in 20:11)
UBS4 1Cor 10:4 - 2x (actually 2x in 10:4!!)
LogosLXX Ps 136:9 - 1x
LogosLXX Job 14:8 - 2x (actually 1x in 14:8 and 1x in 14:18)
NA27 Rev 6:15 - 2x (actually 1x in 6:15 and 1x in 6:16)What makes the UBS4 so much higher ranked than the NA27 on the same verse? The only difference is in punctuation.

My results are similar to yours with UBS4 ranked above NA27Int. I'd like to know as well.
