Search for the person Peter in verses referenced in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
One needs a Passage List of verses in the CCC and the datatype argument <Person Peter> to answer this question.
- Select Docs on tool bar
- Select New
- Select Passage List
- Edit the Passage List title (1)
- Open Catechism of the Catholic Church
- Navigate to Scripture index in the back (2)
- Select all of the Scripture index
- Copy
- Return to Passage list

Is there any way to search for the pericopes in a Bible Book?
I will use Jonah for the example. You may simply want to use the Compare Pericopes tool – Tools à Passage à Passage Analysis à Compare Pericopes
One can use the search field “Heading” to find pericope headings but:
- The ANY value is not available outside the Clause search
- A wildcard search is extremely slow.
- A search argument of “a*, b*, c*, d*, e*, f*, g*, h*, i*, j*, k*, l*, m*, n*, o*, p*, q*, r*, s*, t*, u*, v*, w*, x*, y*, z*” is faster but still > 10 minutes
- Using frequency order “e*, a*, r*, i*, o*, t*, n*, s*, l*, c*, u*, d*, p*, m*, h*, g*, b*, f*, y*, w*, k*, v*, x*, z*, j*, q*” is actually slightly slower

Find where Jesus uses any form of the phrase καλὰ ἔργα in the Gospels.
Select Gospels from the Common Divisions in the passage range menu. Then this requires only two terms and a proximity operator:
- <Lemma = lbs/el/καλός>
- <Lemma = lbs/el/ἔργον>
- WITHIN 1 WORD seems reasonable; without the proximity operator the two lemmas merely need to be in the same verse.
Bible Search – view in analysis mode

Search Analysis
The Analysis view, available in Bible, Clause, and Morph searches, displays the search results in a data grid that can be manipulated in various ways to analyze the data.
• To choose the columns to be displayed, right-click any of the column headings, and select/deselect a heading.
• To change the order of the columns, click and drag a column heading and drop it in another location.
Sort and group
• To sort by a particular column, click the column heading. An upward-pointing triangle will appear to indicate that the data is being sorted in ascending order by that column. (The column width may need to be expanded to see the sort-by triangle.) Click a second time to sort in descending order (downward-pointing triangle).
• To sort by multiple columns, click the first column to sort, then hold down Shift and click additional columns to add secondary sorting.
• To group by a column:
• On Mac, press the Opt key and drag it to the Option + Click a column header and drag here to group by it.
• On Windows, just drag it to the Drag a column header here to group by that column area.
• Drag the Lemma column to this area where results will be grouped by Lemma, and in order of the number of occurrences.
• To group by multiple columns, drag columns in succession to the top area. Columns in this area can be reordered using drag and drop.
• To remove a column from grouping, click its column header and drag it out of the above area.
Expand/Collapse
• To expand or collapse a section after grouping by a column, click the section grouping bar. Right-click the bar to see additional options, including “Summary view,” which displays the grouping hierarchy and hides the results.[1]
I’m merely mentioning this view now as it is most useful when:
- Analyzing morphology, grammatical roles, or semantic roles
- When exporting to Excel to perform additional tasks
The data available to be shown and sort/grouped by is:
Homework: Search 25:
From a frustrated Logos user: “I want to find all the senses of 'remember' but am coming up with nothing when I enter a search with: <Sense = remember>.“ How would you solve the problem?
Homework: Search 26:
Another Logos user is hard at work: “I have been searching for every passage where God is called shepherd.” How would you do this?
Homework: Search 27:
Yes, Logos users keep coming: “is possible to do a quick search for every geographical location in a book of the Bible?” Show them that it is.
Now that we’ve covered most of the features of the Bible search, it is time for you to respond with some of the Bible searches that have been puzzling you. They may be as simple as not knowing if the data necessary to find them exists to complex searches that “almost” work. If there are no responses, I’ll assume that you all have mastered the search better than I and I’ll PM my problems to you.
