Bible Search – charting part 2
Setup
For purposes of illustrating the available charting functions, a simple search for the text word “faith” in the Pauline epistles will be used, running it against of collection of explicitly Catholic Bibles.
Given the options I have recently used in charts when I click on Charts I get:
- Note that only the first five Bibles from the search results are used in the charting.
- The colors of the search grid are independent of the color in the charts.
- The menu to change the Bible selection is opened by clicking on the resource list (1).
Detail visible on mouse-over
Mouse over each of the 3-D bars provides the following data:
- Bible version
- Book of the Bible
- Frequency of the word “faith” (per thousand words)
Modifying which Bibles show in the chart
- Check a Bible to show it in the chart
- Uncheck a Bible to exclude it in the chart
- A limit of 5 Bibles may be selected
Selection:

Show zero results
In order to have zero results to show, change the search argument from “faith” to “hope”.

- Select show zero results
- Limit results to NRSV-CE
Chart with show zero results
- 2 Timothy is shown without results
Same chart without show zero results being set:
- 2 Timothy is omitted from the chart as it has no results
