What roughly is this group going to be used for? For example, will these series be moved to it?

  • Catholic Commentary on Sacred Scripture
  • Catholic Scripture Study
  • Come and See: Catholic Bible Study
  • Hearts Aflame Scripture Study
  • Journey through Scripture

Basically I'm struggling to figure out what goes into Bible Notes vs. Bible Study vs. Study Guide ...

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Agh, you beat me to it. I have a post that I'm preparing outlining

    • What the new resource types are
    • Our general guidelines for determining the resource type
    • Means to propose new resource types
    • Encouragement to propose changes and/or movements from Monographs to a New Resource Type.

Great - I promise to wait (in)patiently. Is there a history of doctrine category? I saw several books of that category which I did not list as church history.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Since you're curious. Here's the additions:

    Ancient Manuscript Translation
    Autobiography
    Bible Study
    Bibliography
    Biography
    Catechism
    Church History
Collected Work (This one will definitely see a ton of work. It will probably be broken up further to distinguish between a resource that is a collection of articles written by multiple authors, a single-volume meant to pull together various works of a single author, and a multi-volume set meant to be exhaustive of an author's corpus.)
    Curriculum
    Devotional
    Festschrift
    Handbook
    Illustrations
    Lecture
    New Testament Introduction
    New Testament Survey
    Old Testament Introduction
    Old Testament Survey
    Personal Journal
    Quotations
    Sermon Outlines
    Study Guide
    Workbook

There are three other types that are supported but we haven't added anything to their type yet. After spending some more time with them I may wait until 9.4. We'll see.

    Edited Volume

    Monographic Series

    Survey

Hermenutics/Exegesis/Bible Study - I've left preaching/sermon preparation out as well as what I think of as Bible studies - monographs that may have a how-to /example relationship to Bible study. I don't have any strong opinion of where the boundaries ought to be.

Since you're curious. Here's the additions:

There are three other types that are supported but we haven't added anything to their type yet. After spending some more time with them I may wait until 9.4. We'll see.

Has any consideration been given to giving types to the various forms of criticism? Textual, Historical, Form, etc. I realize many resources use multiple types. Possible a type for Higher Criticism and Textual Criticism would suffice for those groups.

Also, textbooks seem to be somewhere between Bible Study and Study Guide, Commentary Study Guide.

Too soon old. Too late smart.
