NASB 77

This is my main bible, though I have a hundred others, this is the gold to me, and having spent 50+k on Logos and still not have it integrated is a shame.

Having this version and not being able to do anything with it is very disappointing- we need to have this version made accessible to the full function of the bible program.

I wish I could be more optimistic for you, but I don't see a reverse interlinear being produced for this resource. I assume that is what you are asking for. Was there anything else?

I did my undergrad in the mid 1980's and the NASB 1977 was the Bible my college used. I would like to see Logos add the reverse interlinear, but with the 2020 version coming out soon I'm not very hopeful.

Also, a search of "NASB" did not bring it up in my library. I had to search "NAS." It also looks like the cover changed from green to red. I haven't used it in a while so I'm not sure when this happened.

I too enjoyed using it in Bible College but, for the most part, I've moved on. To me the biggest issue with having so many translations these days is memorizing passages. I used to memorize from the early NASB, then went to the NIV84 and then to many different translations. There were definite advantages when most of us used the same translation.

Also, a search of "NASB" did not bring it up in my library. I had to search "NAS." It also looks like the cover changed from green to red. I haven't used it in a while so I'm not sure when this happened.

Hm. My cover for NASB '77 is red (in dark mode as well as in light mode) - but the cover shown for it on https://www.logos.com/product/7431/the-new-american-standard-bible-1977-edition is green (strangely, it shows a publication date of it is 1986 there on the product page and also in the library and the citations, despite the copyright years running only through 1977). I got my license from the WordSearch transition, but it is the one existing in the Logos universe beforehand, LLS:1.0.70

I think they may have changed the cover (but why?) prior to me downloading it for the first time.

Hm. Now that you mentioned it, mine went from green to red as well- though it says 1986, I believe it is still the 77 version- feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I think my Logos version was replaced by the WS version as well. Last copyright date is 1977.

When I was in high school, our youth group leaders were sticklers for memorizing verses word-for-word perfect. Back then, I used the KJV. Then I went to college and used the NASB. When I returned home, my church used the NIV (1984). I've since migrated to the ESV and NASB 1995. Now all I remember is a combination of versions. I've given up word-for-word perfection. [:)]

That is my story as well. The most important part is that it is in our heart. I've not seen any research on it but my guess is that people are not memorizing Scripture that much these days.

Regarding reverse interlinear or tagging, the only version of NAS 1977 that I have that is tagged is from Bibleworks. So there is a tagged version out there. But the versions In WS and Accordance along with Logos are not. I would think FL will tag the NASB 2020 rather than go back to an older version, but who knows.

Thank you, John for the reminder. BW remains a jewel, if maybe bypassed by the new fancy Logos expressway.

Unique to BW, I have verse comparisons of KJV, NASB77, NASB95, Ralfs LXX, Targum Neofiti, Leningrad hebrew, Japanese, Korean, and Syriac/Arabic Peshitta. And linked mss imagery of Leningrad with verse ids, and top/side margin notes. Really unique.

But do you own the same Logos-ID? My understanding is that there is only one NASB77 resource in Logos. Former WS-users were given licenses to this resource, exactly the same as those people have who bought it from FL. It's just that FL sometimes changes cover pictures (or forgets them) and that keeping those current and consistent across platforms and users is not really a strength of FL.

As I think about it more I think you may be right. It is not a big issue to have a couple of different covers out there but I am just curious as to why that is the case.

I purchased my NASB 1977 directly from Logos back in 2010 when it first became available (I think). The invoice is in my order history. As far as I know, I never had a Wordsearch library.
