Somehow I highlighted the word "they" so that it shows up like this everywhere -- see the screenshot below. Can someone tell me how to undo this?

I'm afraid the screenshot didn't appear - did you use the paperclip icon in the forum editor?
In terms of the highlights - is it possible you have a search window open where you are searching for the word they?

Do either of JT's suggestions address this?
To check if a visual filter is causing this, you can turn them off in the visual filter menu for the resource.
