Until you've specifically selected a font in the Text dropdown menu, the Font is blank:
It's not even obvious that that's meant to be a font, until you click on the little dropdown triangle. There shouldn't ever be a blank font, because if you insert a passage and start building your sentence diagram, it does appear in some font. But the Font selector still shows up as blank.
